Flight Training with an Independent Colorado Flight Instructor

Certificates

  • Private Pilot

It all starts with this certificate. Together, we’ll start from the beginning and work toward your first solo flight, then cross-country flying, through the practical exam to earn your certificate.

  • Commercial Pilot

Earn your Commercial certificate so you can get paid to fly. This is described as the fun certificate where you will learn precise maneuvers and also complete a longer cross-country flight.

  • CFI

If your desire is to help others learn to fly, let’s work together to complete your CFI. We’ll complete a detailed ground and flight program to prepare you for your CFI practical exam.

Ratings & Endorsements

  • Instrument

Bring your prior experience or start from scratch. You’ll learn everything you need to know to be comfortable and proficient flying IFR using the systems and electronics in your aircraft.

  • Complex

A complex airplane is one that has retractable landing gear, controllable-pitch propeller, and adjustable flaps. This training normally takes anywhere from 5-10 hours, depending on your background and the aircraft used.

  • High-Performance

An aircraft with an engine rated for more than 200 horsepower requires a high-performance endorsement. This training normally takes anywhere from 5-10 hours, depending on your background and the aircraft used.

  • High Altitude

If a pressurized aircraft has a maximum operating altitude or service ceiling over 25,000’ you will need this endorsement. Expect ground and flight instruction between 5-10 hour to complete your training.

  • Tailwheel

We’ll start with ground training to familiarize you with the aircraft and tailwheel operations, then move to air work and takeoffs and landings. Depending on your experience, expect your training to be 7-10 hours.

Training

  • Mountain Flying

My first flight in the Rocky Mountains was in 1999, and I completed my training throughout Wyoming and Colorado. This area offers many opportunities to gain experience without requiring much travel. We’ll cover topics such as density altitude, one-way airports, sloping runways, dirt and grass operations, and more.

  • Avionics

If you’ve upgraded or transitioned into new avionics, I can help you become proficient. From Garmin’s G1000 to autopilots and flight directors, I have years of experience flying different suites. I’ll help you create flows that are safe and efficient.

  • Flight Review

We start by talking about the flying you do, and I’ll create a ground and flight program tailored to give you the training needed to keep you proficient. I will also advise you on the FAA WINGS program which is an option to save you both time and money.

  • Instrument Proficiency Check

Whether out of IFR currency, coming close to it, or just wanting a refresher, we will fly together to ensure you’re proficient. We will complete ground and flight training to help you become both legal and proficient in the type of flying you usually do in your aircraft.

  • Custom Training

From required insurance checkouts to flight maneuvers and other training, please reach out and let me know how I can help. Together, we will create a plan specific to what you would like to achieve.
